What is the difference between pretzel dough and pizza dough

The options for what you can do with pizza dough are almost endless! Of course, there are timings that come into all this, but a basic pretzel recipe will help you out with that.

Some pizza dough may contain oil and some might not. One type of dough might be high hydration and another low hydration. Either way, the dough will still work to make pretzels. Depending on the dough, your pretzels might be lighter or heavier, but you should still be happy with the result. Before you serve the main food, you can put some simple pizza dough pretzels out for people to snack on. You can use store-bought pizza dough or make your own!

I know this is what prevents a lot of people from trying it. A regular oven or even an air fryer work beautifully. Basically, pizza flour is super fine flour.

It is SO elastic, and it allows you to stretch the dough very, very easily. You can grab the one I bought off Amazon right here. No pizza flour, no problem. A close alternative is bread flour, and that should work very well. Outside of flour, the recipe only requires yeast, salt, and some sugar. The sugar is optional! In my original pizza recipe, I use some garlic powder and no sugar at all. Continue doing this until the dough ball is nice and smooth.

This should take minutes in most cases. At this point, I like to separate the dough into 2 smaller balls since that makes it easier to work with. Then you just need to rub the tops with olive oil, cover them with a damp towel, and let them rise for 1 hour. You can refrigerate your dough for up to days or freeze it to use later, too. If you do that, just be sure the dough sits out at room temperature for at least an hour before making your pretzels.

Fun fact: at most pizzerias, you can purchase a dough ball. Another dough you buy may be larger! With my pizza recipe, each dough ball is calories. I divided that dough into 4 pretzels, making each pretzel roughly calories. If you get pizza dough from the store that is calories and want to make the same sized pretzels as I made, that would mean about 6 pretzels. That being said, maybe you want to make thicker or larger pretzels.

In that case, divide it up however you want! If not, adjust accordingly. Just note that no matter what, you need to let the dough sit at room temperature for an hour before making the pretzels. Easy Appetizers. Pizza Dough Pretzel Bites. Print Recipe.

Pin Recipe. Scale 1x 2x 3x. Preheat oven to degrees. Fill a large pot with water, making sure the water line is about inches below the edge of the pot.

This will prevent it from overflowing when you add the baking soda. While you're waiting for the water to come to a boil, unroll the pizza dough.

Cut the rectangle of pizza dough lengthwise into 4 equal sized strips. Pinch the cut sides of the dough together and gently roll each strip into a rope. Cut each rope into 1 inch pieces. When the water comes to a boil, slowly pour in baking soda. Use slotted spoon to remove boiled dough from the pot and put it on a paper towel lined baking sheet.

Bake for minutes or until pretzels are dark golden brown. Notes Don't fill the pot of water too full. Comments So fun and what a great treat to make up and so much better than opening a briefing bag of chips!! Easy recipe. Great tips.
