In the Color Grouping Chart, please do as follows: 1 Tick the Column Chart option; 2 Specify the range of the axis labels; 3 Specify the range of the series values; 4 In the Group section, please click the Add button. Then in the Add a group dialog, please specify the group name, data range, and the certain range values as you need, and click the Add button.

Tips : This feature will add a conditional formatting rule by one group. If you need to add multiple conditional formatting rules for the chart, please add as many groups as you need. Now you will see a column chart is created, and columns are colored based on the specified groups. Notes : When you change the values in the data source, the fill color of corresponding columns will be changed automatically based on the specified groups.

Sometimes, you may have created a column chart as below screenshot shown, and you want to add conditional formatting for this chart now. In the Fill chart color based on dialog, please do as follows: 1 Select a range criteria from the Data drop-down list; 2 Specify the range values in the Min Value or Max Value boxes; 3 Choose a fill color from the Fill Color drop-down list; 4 Click the Fill button.

Data series Group 2 and Group 3 are for the second and third segments that are between two of the boundary values.

If the value is greater than the first boundary and less than or equal to the second boundary, the production value is put into this cell because it fits in the second segment. The formula can be adjusted based on which of the boundary values is included in the segment.

Data series Group 4 are for those values above the last boundary value. The IF function tests the value to see if it is larger than the last boundary value. If the value is greater, the production value is put into this cell because it fits in the last segment. In this example I have used four segments. Adjust the number of data series you use and the formulas for each series based on how many segments you have for your data.

Select cells E11 to I23 and insert a 2-D clustered column chart, the default column chart. The chart will initially look like this. The initial chart looks strange because for each month there is room for four columns but only one of the columns is showing. The formula below has been entered into cell C4. It compares the sale of this year B4 against last years sales of the same product.

The end result looks like below showing only two products have increased sales since last year, or last week. With this amazing technique you can apply any Conditional Formatting to charts in Excel. The way I'd choose is to use a conditional formatted chart. I would do it the following way. I would test to determine the number of points per segment. I guess 10 points are enough, but maybe for a very big circle you could use 20 or Just try with 10 and if you still think it's not round enough add more 2 — split the series in 2, one series with the segments that correspond to the Yes and the other with the other segments Maybe this article from Jon Peltier will help: Conditional Formatting of Excel Charts Peltier Tech Blog Excel Charts […].
