Belief in life after death is one of the six fundamental beliefs required of all Muslims. In Islam, it is Allah who decides when a person dies and most Muslims believe that when they die, they will stay in their graves until Yawm al-Din, the Day of Judgement. On that day, they will be raised from their graves and brought before Allah and judged on how they lived their earthly lives.
This belief is known as the resurrection of the body. Those who have performed more good deeds than bad will enter Janna , or Paradise. Christians believe that it is these types of behaviours that will be judged and that will be used to determine what happens to people in the afterlife. Christians believe that God created humans with free will. This is the idea that people can make their own decisions, rather than having life predetermined for them.
Without free will, humans could not be described as moral beings, as they will not have made the conscious choice to live and act in a moral way. As a result of this free will, humans are able to choose right from wrong, and therefore can sin if they choose to do so.
Judgment Day. Also known as the Final Judgment. It is the very last thing that happens before God destroys the old heaven and the old earth, which are corrupt on account of sin. Before He creates His new heaven and new earth, He has to do away with anything that could bring sin into the new creation.
The devil has just been cast into the lake of fire, where the beast and the false prophet Antichrist have already been since they were defeated when Jesus returned before the beginning of the millennium. This is to be the eternal retribution for their sin and rebellion against God. Now the time has come for God to judge who is to join them in the lake of fire, and who is worthy of a place on the new earth. The thought of the end times doesn't have to evoke fear in us. Excluded from this judgment on Judgment Day will be those who are in the bride of Christ. They have already stood before the judgment seat of Christ while they were in the situations of their daily lives.
They have, of their own free will, acknowledged their sin, taken up a battle against it and have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus. More than just receiving forgiveness for sin, they have used the power available in the Spirit to overcome it.
Because the urge to sin resides in human nature, mankind is corrupted and somewhat driven by the immoral inclinations that live in all people. This is a consequence of the fall into sin in the garden of Eden.
Before creating His new heaven and earth, God must do away with anything that could produce or bear sin into His new creation.
