What does dior addict smell like

I think the end of Amarige smells like plastic on fire too, but without the vanilla. These particular Dior Addicts urgently need rehab, if you ask me. R, that is funny…I quoted an article back in February that quote her as saying Addict was one of the sexiest scents for women, but I always assume people make stuff up for those kinds of articles. Glad to hear it is actually something she wears, but you're right, there's a real disconnect there!

Yes, in fact it was recent enough February that I still remember it. This was the reason for I started to be interested for woman fragrances. To me, Addict is really like a drug, because you get addicted in this powerful sweet sexy scent. For those who think this is too much I recomend the Addict Fraiche, that's more light and more peppery.

Addict Fraiche was the scent that when I used I ever got compliments about my fragrance. The Eau Fraiche actually rates higher at MakeupAlley. I think for myself I like the original better, but then, neither are big favorites, obviously. I love Addict. However I've only worn it once! A friend was given it and I wore it out for a night. That was more than three years ago and it hasn't left my mind since. I can't stop thinking about it but have never gotten round to buying it.

Sometimes I will smell it on someone else and the craving will hit harder. And then I find there are so many haters! No matter — I shall have it soon! I'm amazed that you still haven't bought it — do get some before they reformulate it or something! I don't really like Addict at all but my biggest peeve with this perfume is the fact that most wearers wear about x more than they need!

This results in a giant mushroom cloud surrounding the wearer which engulfs anyone within a metre radius. No flames from me, Robin: Addict hits me over the head with a two-ton vanilla pod, and continues to do so for about three hours. And the subsequent flankers all smell the same to me, i.

I also love Dior Addict. I picked it out when I was a sophomore in college, and it was the first thing I bought after years of being a devotee of Elizabeth Arden Green Tea love the scent, but it doesn't last on me more than a few hours and Sunflowers.

Addict is not a beginners scent. It is very complex, and definitely not for everybody. But when you wear it, it is unmistakable. People will notice you. It does come off as very vanilla laden, but it unfolds nicely as you were it.

And I kind of like that it isn't very popular here, because I'm not wearing the same thing as everyone else. It is very long-lasting, and when I wake up from a night out, its still lingering, but is softer and lighter. As you wear it, the vanilla fades into the background, and you get some greener, spicier scents. I just love it, and how it changes while I wear it. Thanks for the interesting comments, everyone! True confessions.

I am one of the sheepish girls who likes Addict very much. I wear it prudently. I like to think. Now I'm confused again. I don't understand why there's such disdain for it, and such reverence for Hypnotic Poison, which I also like, but place on the same level qualitatively. Such are the mysteries of the world of perfumistaship. Addict is a strong scent but I love the creaminess of it…I do love Shalimar and Opium as well. I have had my eye and nose on Addict and had to give it a try…So far i am okay with it and can go as far as to say I DO like it.

I'm curious Robin, of what you think of Dior Addict 2. It actually what drew me to this site. I was in Sephora yesterday, and when I first walked to the perfumes, I smelled this rosey citrusy floral, and it did remind me of Dior Addict, and I was really drawn to it. After sniffing and spritzing a variety of perfumes, I decided to hunt down that scent I had initially smelled. I love Dior Addict 2, and would like to know what you all think too.

Perhaps someone could write a review? Addict fan here! Sure, I love more subtle and refined fragrances, too, but when the mood makes me reach for a Loud Scent Bomb, Addict fits the bill nicely.

I love its smokiness. I'd compare it to Boucheron's Trouble more than Hypnotic Poison, though…I've tried to love HP, but it's just all root beer float on my skin. PS: Guys ''really dig'' Dior Addict.

I always get compliments at the officie for wearing it. I also love Versace Crystal Noir and don't understand the disdain around it, either.

Sarahn — it is true about the flankers, in fact, I'd probably rather wear the original! Glad to see another fan! It is true that it is rare enough here that you needn't feel like you're wearing what everyone else is. Robin, no need to be sheepish, as you know!

I wonder if there is really reverence for Hypnotic Poison, I don't think I see it mentioned all that often on the blogs or boards. I never reviewed Crystal Noir, but check over at Perfume Posse. I'm pretty sure March likes it, although I could be confusing it with another Versace. Agree Addict is a success — even if the original Addict perfume is not a big seller here.

Everybody's entitled to their own opinion. Nothing wrong with that! It's fun to read everybody's opinion, there's no danger of going to hell ;0 — I hope! I have over 60 bottles of perfume that I've collected since I was about Some people care more about perfume than others. I'd say, generally speaking, people will grab what's popular at the nearest store and not think further.

I care much about what I wear, I've started making my own fragrances. I don't think I'm the next Annick Goutal though, but it's a great hobby. I hesitate between saying this smells a bit cold, and saying its deep, intense character makes it perfect for deep winter.

Both feel true to my nose. Notes: Top mandarin leaf, orange blossom; Heart jasmine sambac; Base Bourbon vanilla. Evokes: A black, long gala dress and dark lipstick; leaving the theatre in a dark, foggy night; midnight-blue crushed velvet. But Dior Addict is an intriguing, different take on this note, and a very well-made one! You are commenting using your WordPress. You are commenting using your Google account. Translated Show original Show translation. Thanks to a bottling of the dear Moenique I was able to deal extensively with this wonderful fragrance in the last few days. On Saturday evening, I rang in getting to know it - as usual on a strip of paper. I sifted through the scent pyramid beforehand. Tangerine leaves - I have already seen them in the supermarket on tangerines, I have sniffed them admittedly not yet I will catch up in the near future.

However, I once had a fragrance oil: Violet Leaf Absolute. It was very green and smelled like it: green, herbaceous, tart, a little bitter, minimally pungent - the scent of violets was only very faint.

From therefore I was very curious whether and how I would perceive a similar note in the otherwise rather sweet-floral composition. The top note: I smell nothing strikingly pungent or herbaceous-green-bitter, it seems rather floral, with delicate berry note I really have to take soon in the supermarket a tangerine leaf in care and sniff. Orange blossom is discernible, but not in the foreground. Jasmine and vanilla don't hesitate and are right up front. Jasmine is not overbearing here, though which makes me cheerful.

After about 10 minutes, the scent changes. The floral character gives way to the warm sensuality of vanilla. I feel like I smell benzoin siam and some iris, even though they're not listed here. Wonderfully cozy, subtly powdery. And just vanilla. Real vanilla. I already wrote it in my statement: I think you can clearly perceive the real vanilla here. Perhaps for better understanding: there are vanillin and vanilla in different qualities. Imagine you have vanillin sugar.

It smells like vanilla, but it only has some of the chemical compounds found in a real vanilla bean. But enough to tell your brain that something smells or tastes like vanilla. Then there's ground vanilla powder. Here, a pod is usually ground after the pith has been scraped out. The taste is much rounder than the vanillin flavor, and so is the smell.

And then there are vanilla beans. The inclined Christmas baker knows the small test tube-like containers in which the same are usually stored. These vanilla beans also contain the pulp of the vanilla, and just the latter smells and tastes much more intense than the first two.

Vanilla in full fragrance glory, so to speak. On the skin, the scent develops very similarly, however: the durability on the skin is with me at the highest hours. Then the magic is gone. On the clothes, however, a spritz is enough to smell the whole day. I applied a rather large spritz this morning and even now I still smell very intense. Sunday and yesterday I got compliments for the smaller dose applied to the skin but also absorbed somewhat by the clothes.

Today, I had the big spritz on clothes only and those around me clearly told me that my scent tail was too much. So the sillage is obviously above average, is yes also good to know. My conclusion: Addict is a very nice, round vanilla fragrance, elegant, somewhat sexy, in the right dose not intrusive and very pleasing to many noses. Very intense and long lasting on clothes. Basically a successful, balanced composition.

Two things I have noticed when sniffing, however, and I write this here, even if it may border on blasphemy or idiocy for the one or the other: 1. As much as I like the real bourbon vanilla in desserts or in coffee and consume a pinch there daily, I obviously like the stripped down vanilla notes in fragrances.

I sprayed another fragrance strip with JHAG Vanilla Vibes yesterday - yes, it's a very different kind of scent, more summery-light. The more artificial vanilla note in it pleases my nose better though, sort of suffices as a vanilla note for me personally. Maybe a bit of an idiot, and I'm wondering myself about that statement. When it comes to food, it's the other way around. There's nothing wrong with vanilla sugar or butter vanilla flavoring, you can make wonderful baked goods with it.

But my palate clearly prefers real vanilla. As nice, round, and sexy as the scent is, I wonder: how well does it suit me? I guess the men around me would say, "Great!
